Vaccinium vitis-idaea 'Fireballs' (Pot Size 2L) Lingonberry sold by Boma Garden Centre
A compact, evergreen shrub prized for its ornamental white spring flowers and prolific bright red berries. The Fireballs cultivar is exceptionally free-fruiting and self-fertile, ensuring reliable berry production year after year. The small, glossy dark green leaves remain attractive throughout the year, providing permanent garden structure. Hardy to at least -20°C, it thrives in full sun or partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained acidic soil. Mature plants reach about 60cm tall with a spreading habit, making them ideal for containers, woodland edges or ground cover in suitable gardens. The bright red berries ripen from late summer through autumn and persist well into winter, providing colour long after most fruits have faded. Once cooked with sugar, the tart berries make excellent jam, sauce or jelly.
