Hydrangea macrophylla 'Magical Revolution' (Pot Size 10.5cm) Magical Revolution sold by Boma Garden Centre

This compact Hydrangea macrophylla variety ideal for patio containers features distinctive pink mophead flowers appearing June onwards, gradually transitioning through green-purple to spectacular deep red over several months. Very hardy (H5), surviving UK winters without protection in most areas, though severe frost needs fleece protection.Reaches around 1-1.5 metres tall and wide with dark green oval foliage. Thrives in partial shade with moist but well-drained soil, adapting to clay, loam or sandy soils and all pH levels, though neutral to slightly acidic soil retains best pink colouration. In acid soils, flowers open blue before turning deep red.Maintenance is straightforward: water regularly, provide balanced fertiliser three to four times during flowering, and deadhead spent blooms after flowering. Spring pruning is minimal – simply remove spent flower heads in March. Perfect for container gardening on terraces or as a specimen in mixed borders.
