Acer palmatum 'Shishi-gashira' (Pot Size 6.5L) Lion's Head Maple sold by Boma Garden Centre

This compact Japanese maple cultivar is known for its distinctive lion’s head appearance and fine-textured foliage. Small, deeply lobed dark green leaves create a refined aesthetic from spring through summer, transitioning to soft orange tones in autumn for a spectacular seasonal display. The upright, bushy habit resembles a carefully trained bonsai, making it ideal for smaller gardens or courtyards.Extremely slow-growing, typically gaining just 9-12 inches annually, this cultivar is very low-maintenance once established. Hardy to -20°C, it thrives throughout the UK in well-drained soil with consistent moisture during dry spells. Plant in partial shade to full sun, with afternoon shade preferable in warmer climates to preserve leaf colour.
