Acer palmatum 'Koto-no-ito' (Pot Size 36cm) Harp Strings Japanese Maple sold by Boma Garden Centre

Acer palmatum ‘Koto-no-ito’, the Harp Strings Japanese maple, is prized for its exceptionally fine, delicate foliage comprising 5–7 long, narrow strap-like lobes. The leaves emerge vibrant crimson in spring, quickly transitioning to bright green through summer, then transforming to striking shades of orange, red, and gold before shedding in autumn. This slow-growing cultivar develops a rounded, bushy habit, eventually reaching 2–3 metres in both height and spread over 20–50 years. Young leaves display attractive pink petioles that complement the delicate lobed form.Plant in moist but well-drained, slightly acidic soil in partial shade for best leaf colour, though it tolerates full sun if soil remains consistently moist. Shelter from strong winds to prevent leaf scorch. Maintains its elegant shape naturally; light pruning in late winter encourages density if needed.
