Rosetti's Right Call Planter (21cm) Skimmia Rubella, Cyclamen Red, Juncus Spiralis, Planter sold by Boma Garden Centre

Winter is when you look out of the window most and see the least. Rosetti’s Right Call Planter is our answer to that. It’s a window box planted by hand at Boma in Kentish Town and made to order, with three plants that hold their own when the days are short. The wine red cyclamen brings the colour, deep and rich against wet slate and a grey sky. Beside it, a skimmia adds glossy evergreen leaves and tight clusters of dark red buds, so the box feels full and settled. Then there’s the corkscrew rush, its stems curling off in every direction like it got up late and didn’t bother with a comb. It’s the bit people notice first.Set it on a kitchen windowsill, at the edge of a balcony or by the front door, and you’ve got something worth looking at with your morning tea. It works just as well as an outdoor planter for a small courtyard or front step, and it’s an easy way to make a terrace feel looked after through the colder months.
