Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens' (Pot Size 14cm) Black Mondo Grass sold by Boma Garden Centre

This striking mondo grass displays dense tufts of dramatically dark, strap-shaped leaves that emerge purplish-green before deepening to near-jet black in full sun. Small pale pinkish-white flowers appear in early to midsummer on dark stems, followed by glossy dark berries in autumn. Forms a compact, slowly expanding groundcover reaching 15-20cm tall with a mature spread of 25-30cm, ideal for edging, rock gardens, container displays, and underplanting beneath trees and shrubs. Best in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic, fertile, humus-rich soil. Thrives in full sun to partial shade, with darker foliage colour intensifying in stronger light. Entirely pest-free with no serious diseases, making it a trouble-free choice for any garden.
