Nepenthes gaya (Pot Size 12cm) Monkey jars sold by Boma Garden Centre

Nepenthes are a huge genus of tropical carnivorous plants containing around 170 species. They’re more commonly known as pitcher plants or monkey jars due to their scooping cups full of digestive enzymes that catch numerous unassuming bugs. Carnivorous species like low nutrient compost and don’t require feeding as they get all the goodness they need from their prey. Nepenthes gaya is a stunning variety with its striking, red speckled pitchers pitchers and lush glossy foliage. This little beauty makes a great plant for kids or people branching out into the carnivorous realm as it’s pretty straight forward to care for and will let you know if something is wrong.
