Euphorbia mammillaris (Pot Size 15cm) Indian Corn Cob sold by Boma Garden Centre
Euphorbia mammillaris, known as Indian Corn Cob, is a distinctive South African succulent prized for its striking columnar stems. The thick, ribbed green growth resembles its namesake, with occasional toothpick-like spines studding the surface. From late winter through early summer, small orange to pink flowers appear at the stem tips, adding seasonal interest to this architectural houseplant. The plant reaches around 30cm tall indoors under bright conditions and develops a denser shrubby form over time, making it ideal for a sunny windowsill or conservatory shelf. Euphorbia mammillaris is extremely drought tolerant and thrives on neglect. Water only when the soil has completely dried out-typically weekly in summer and monthly in winter. Use a gritty cactus mix or well-draining potting compost and ensure the pot has drainage holes. The plant prefers full sun or bright indirect light; without adequate brightness, growth becomes sparse.Keep away from pets and children, as the milky sap causes contact dermatitis and ingestion triggers blistering of the mouth and lips. Wear gloves when handling or repotting.
