Lychnis ‘Hill Grounds’ is a distinctive short-lived perennial with silvery-grey woolly stems and leaves, producing bright cerise-pink flowers from late spring through autumn. Created by Janet Cropley, this sterile hybrid between L. flos-jovis and L. coronaria will not self-seed, unlike its parent species. It reaches approximately 75cm in flower with a spread of 30-50cm. The combination of fine silvery foliage and vibrant pink blooms makes it striking in any border, rockery or container. Fully hardy throughout the UK, it thrives in full sun or partial shade and is low-maintenance once established.Grow in well-drained soil – chalk, loam or sandy conditions suit it best. It’s drought-tolerant and dislikes waterlogged or winter-wet positions. Deadhead flowers regularly to promote continuous flowering through the season. Propagate from division of established clumps or basal softwood cuttings in spring.
