This vigorous deciduous climber will quickly clothe trellises, archways and pergolas with twining stems. It produces highly fragrant tubular flowers from July to September, each creamy white streaked with deep red-purple on the outer petals. The dark green foliage is deciduous, falling in winter. ‘Serotina’ is prized for its extended flowering season-considerably later than most honeysuckles.Position plants where the roots stay shaded but foliage can climb into sunlight, which encourages prolific flowering. Tolerates chalky, clay and sandy soils provided they are moist but well-drained. A strong magnet for bees, butterflies and beneficial insects, it is ideal for wildlife gardens and adds ornamental red berries in autumn.
