Leucothoe keiskei 'Burning Love' (Pot Size 3L) Switch Ivy sold by Boma Garden Centre

Leucothoe keiskei ‘Burning Love’ is an evergreen shrub prized for its spectacular seasonal foliage display. Bright crimson-red new growth emerges in spring, maturing to glossy dark green through summer, then deepening to fiery red as temperatures drop in autumn and winter. Small white flower clusters appear from spring through midsummer but are secondary to the foliage show. The compact, mounded habit reaches 60-80cm tall and wide, making it ideal for shaded borders, mixed planting schemes or decorative containers. This plant thrives in partial to full shade-an excellent choice for areas where most shrubs struggle. It requires moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter, preferably acidic. Once established, it is low-maintenance: water consistently during dry spells, apply annual mulch with leaf mould or bark to maintain moisture and soil acidity, and lightly prune after flowering to maintain shape. Feed in spring with ericaceous fertiliser to enhance the vibrant foliage colours. Fully hardy year-round; USDA zones 5-8. Note: this plant is toxic to pets if ingested.
