Hydrangea paniculata ‘Limelight’ presented as an elegant trained standard — the same spectacular cultivar elevated on a clear trunk of 80–100 cm for a formal, sculptural effect. A holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, this is one of Britain’s most celebrated panicle hydrangeas in its most refined form.Each year the crown produces enormous conical flowerheads that open pale lime green in July before fading through creamy white to warm pink and rose tones in autumn. Flowerheads can reach 30 cm long. Even in winter the dried papery panicles remain on the plant, adding structure to a bare garden.The standard form is ideal for formal gardens, symmetrical plantings, patio containers, and framing pathways. Supplied with a clean trained stem of 80–100 cm, it creates immediate height and drama. Plant in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Hardy to RHS H5 throughout most of the UK.Prune the crown back to a low framework in late winter or early spring. Do not cut the clear main stem — all pruning should be directed at the side shoots of the crown only. Stake the trunk in the first two seasons if needed.
