Gynura aurantiaca (Pot Size 7cm) Purple Velvet Plant sold by Boma Garden Centre

Gynura aurantiaca is instantly recognisable by its deep green leaves densely covered in fine purple hairs, creating a distinctive velvet-like texture. The stems are similarly adorned, giving the entire plant a striking appearance that catches the light.Bright, filtered light is essential to maintain the vibrant purple colouring; position it away from direct sun, which damages the delicate foliage. Water the compost directly when the upper layer dries, avoiding the leaves entirely as the hairy texture is best kept dry.It tolerates standard household temperatures and humidity, though humidity can be enhanced by standing the pot on a pebble tray with water. Feed monthly during spring and summer with diluted liquid houseplant fertiliser. Pinch out growing tips regularly to encourage a bushier form; the plant naturally develops a trailing habit as it matures over time.
