Gaultheria mucronata 'Alba' (Pot Size 14cm) Prickly Heath sold by Boma Garden Centre

Gaultheria mucronata ‘Alba’ is a compact evergreen shrub prized for its distinctive white berries tinged with pink that persist from autumn through winter. The foliage comprises small, sharply pointed dark green glossy leaves that provide year-round structure. In spring, tiny bell-shaped white flowers appear before developing into the ornamental berry display. The plant thrives in acidic, moist but well-drained soil and prefers partial shade, though it tolerates full sun. Once established, it becomes drought tolerant and resists deer and rabbit browsing, making it valuable for wildlife gardens. The berries are ornamental only and toxic if ingested—handle with gloves. Plant a male specimen nearby to ensure good berry production on female plants.
