Garrya elliptica (Pot Size 20L) Silk Tassel Bush sold by Boma Garden Centre

This evergreen Mediterranean shrub is prized for its winter display of long, pendant grey-green catkins, most impressive from January through February when the garden needs colour most. The frame-trained specimen arrives shaped on a bamboo framework, ready to tie securely against a warm, south-or west-facing wall or fence. Dark, glossy, leathery leaves provide architectural interest year-round. Once established, Garrya elliptica is remarkably drought tolerant and virtually maintenance-free. It thrives in full sun or partial shade and adapts to most soils provided drainage is good. Hardy throughout most of the UK (H4), it creates a striking focal point and is ideal for low-maintenance, Mediterranean-style gardens.
