Cornus sanguinea 'Winter Beauty' (Pot Size 2L) Dogwood sold by Boma Garden Centre

Winter Beauty is grown for its striking seasonal display, particularly the dramatic colouring of its young stems in the cold months. The deciduous shrub reveals stems in shades of pale yellow at the base, deepening to orange-red at the tips, creating a glowing effect in winter light. In summer, soft green oval leaves provide soft foliage; by autumn these turn golden-orange. Small white flowers appear in spring, followed by black berries attractive to birds. This shrub is fully hardy throughout the UK and tolerates most soil types, including chalk and clay. Plant in full sun or partial shade and ensure well-drained but moist soil for best results. Annual pruning in late winter maintains the brightest stem colour, as one- to two-year-old growth displays the most vivid tones. Best planted in groups to make maximum visual impact in winter borders or as part of a mixed shrub planting.
