Coleus scutellarioides 'Main Street Alligator Alley' (Pot Size 1L) Painted Nettle sold by Boma Garden Centre

Coleus ‘Main Street Alligator Alley’ is a stunning foliage houseplant prized for its bold, high-contrast leaves. Each leaf features a deep mahogany to chocolate center with bright lime-green margins and a striking hot-pink stripe running through the middle, creating an eye-catching display. This compact, bushy cultivar grows to around 40–55cm tall, making it ideal for shelves, desks, or grouped with other houseplants. As part of the Main Street series, it is bred to tolerate brighter conditions than traditional coleus, though it still prefers bright, indirect light.Care is straightforward: keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, provide high humidity by grouping plants or setting on a pebble tray, and maintain temperatures between 18–24°C. Feed lightly at half-strength every 1–2 weeks during active growth. Remove any flower spikes immediately—pinching them back encourages bushier growth and preserves the foliage display. Avoid misting the velvety leaves, which may spot. The plant is mildly toxic to cats and dogs if ingested, causing mild gastrointestinal upset; keep out of reach of curious pets.
