Chamaerops humilis (Pot Size 28cm) Mediterranean Fan Palm sold by Boma Garden Centre

The Mediterranean fan palm is a slow-growing, architectural evergreen that brings year-round structure to UK gardens. It develops a bushy, multi-stemmed form bearing large fan-shaped leaves, each measuring up to 45cm long. Once established, it becomes remarkably easy-going, tolerating poor soils, drought, and considerable neglect.Hardy to H4 (down to -10°C in most winters), it thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained, fertile soil. While it may take 20 to 50 years to reach its full height of 1.5–2.5 metres, the plant’s striking foliage makes it rewarding from the start. Mature plants produce small clusters of yellow flowers, though these are not the main attraction.Plant in a sunny to partially shaded position in well-drained, loam-based compost. Water moderately during the growing season and reduce watering in winter. Feed monthly with a balanced fertiliser during spring and summer. Once established, Chamaerops humilis needs very little care and is remarkably drought-tolerant. The species has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, a guarantee of its reliability and garden performance.
