Avonia Papyracea (Pot Size 5.5cm) Gansmis sold by Boma Garden Centre

It is sometimes hard to find a plant that really thrives in hot, bright conditions, however, Avonia papyracea is just that. This attractive little succulent is endemic to dry arid regions of South Africa and can tolerate extreme heat and harsh sunlight due to its reflective paperlike scales that protect its lush green foliage beneath. In the wild Avonia papyracea is virtually camouflage blending in with rocks and quartz surrounding it making it very successful as its only threat is being trampled. Having said that, this little beauty does put on a show producing creamy white flowers- unfortunately the show is over after a few hours but its well worth it!
