Aquilegia vulgaris 'Red Hobbit' (Pot Size 1L) Columbine sold by Boma Garden Centre

Aquilegia ‘Red Hobbit’ is a charming, compact columbine that brings bright, cheerful colour into smaller garden spaces. Its distinctive flowers feature vivid red outer petals surrounding a soft white centre, with golden stamens adding a delicate highlight. Unlike taller aquilegias, this variety stays neat and low-growing, making it particularly well suited to containers, window boxes, and the front of borders. The flowers sit just above a mound of soft green, finely divided foliage, creating a tidy yet natural look. Its smaller stature makes it ideal for London patios, balconies, and courtyard gardens where space is limited but visual impact is still important. It pairs beautifully with low-growing perennials such as hardy geraniums, heuchera, and compact grasses, or can be used to soften the edges of pots and troughs. Flowering in late spring to early summer, it adds a lively burst of colour just as the garden begins to fill out.
