Acer palmatum 'Skeeter's Broom' (Pot Size 12L) Skeeter's Broom Japanese Maple sold by Boma Garden Centre

Acer palmatum ‘Skeeter’s Broom’ is a narrow, upright deciduous shrub with deeply lobed foliage that delivers outstanding seasonal colour from spring to autumn. This compact Japanese maple originated as a natural witches’ broom sport of the celebrated ‘Bloodgood’ cultivar, combining its parent’s outstanding beauty with a more columnar, space-saving form. The small, finely-cut palmate leaves emerge bright red in spring, transition to deep purple-red through summer, then transform to glowing scarlet and ruby-red before dropping in autumn.Hardy to UK Hardiness Zone H6 (down to -10°C), it is fully suitable for UK gardens and reliably survives winter temperatures.Position in partial shade to preserve the best leaf colour, though full sun is tolerated if the plant is sheltered from wind and excessive heat.Grow in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil in a sheltered location protected from cold winds and late frosts. This cultivar is less susceptible to leaf scorch than many Japanese maples and is excellent for containers, rock gardens, mixed borders, and Japanese gardens.
