Parthenocissus striata, also known as the Ivy of Uruguay or sugar vine, is a vigorous trailing or climbing houseplant prized for its glossy, deeply-lobed evergreen foliage. The palmate leaves are a rich dark green with an attractive purple tinge on new growth. This tender perennial is notable for producing tiny beads of sweet sap on its stems, from which it derives its common name.This fast-growing houseplant is perfect for shelves, bookcases, or hanging baskets where its slender stems can cascade gracefully. In summer, it produces inconspicuous green flowers followed by small shiny black berries. Cissus striata is exceptionally easy to care for and thrives in bright, indirect light with consistently moist but well-drained soil.Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, and feed every 4-6 weeks during the growing season. Avoid waterlogging, which can cause root rot. It enjoys moderate humidity and temperatures between 15-24°C, making it ideal for average UK indoor conditions.
