Hebe × franciscana 'Variegata' (Pot Size 1.5L) Variegated Franciscan Hebe sold by Boma Garden Centre

This attractive evergreen shrub provides year-round interest with grey-green leaves edged creamy-white, making it striking even when not in flower. Purple flower spikes appear from July through September, gradually fading to white as they age. The plant reaches 60-90cm tall and spreads to 90-120cm, forming a neat, compact mound. Hardy to -5°C, it survives unprotected in most UK winters and demonstrates exceptional tolerance of coastal conditions and salt spray. Prefers full sun or partial shade with at least 4-6 hours of direct sun daily to maintain strong variegation. Plant in well-drained, fertile soil on the neutral to alkaline side. Water moderately, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring. Light pruning after flowering maintains a neat shape and encourages bushier growth. An excellent choice for bee and butterfly pollinators.
