Corylus avellana 'Scooter' (Pot Size 5L) Twisted hazel sold by Boma Garden Centre

This dwarf twisted hazel is a slower-growing, more compact variant of the classic ‘Contorta’, reaching just 1-1.5 metres in height. Its distinctive contorted branches create striking architectural interest, especially eye-catching when bare in winter or adorned with pale yellow catkins in early spring. The green, rounded foliage turns a soft pale yellow before dropping in autumn. Fully hardy to H6, it thrives in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, making it ideal for smaller gardens where a larger ‘Contorta’ would overwhelm the space. The twisted stems are highly valued in floral arrangements during spring. Low-maintenance and resilient, it asks only for reasonable drainage and will tolerate chalky or neutral soils alike.
