Calathea leopardina could be classed as one of the more modest varieties, with its subtle yet delightfully patterned leaves. Fresh green foliage, tall slender form, and beautiful yellow flowers make this species of Calathea a real treat to have in the house. Calatheas are part of the prayer plant family (Marantaceae) and are great plants for areas where light is limited, making them very popular in basement flats, north-facing properties, and inner-city homes. Calatheas are known to be somewhat particular so are better suited for the more attentive plant owner. As well as being absolute beauties, Calatheas are completely child and pet safe, and so are all-round fantastic houseplants.
