Begonia rex is grown entirely for its striking, patterned foliage-metallic green leaves with silvery zones and reddish undersides. Small pink flowers appear but are incidental to the foliage display.Position in bright, indirect light and maintain high humidity with a pebble tray or by misting the surrounding air (never spray the leaves directly). Water when the soil surface feels dry, but avoid waterlogged conditions which cause root rot. Feed fortnightly in spring and summer with diluted liquid fertilizer and keep in a warm location away from cold draughts.All parts contain compounds that are toxic if ingested; keep out of reach of pets and children.
