Acer palmatum 'Koto no Ito' (Pot Size 7.5L) Laceleaf Japanese Maple sold by Boma Garden Centre

Acer palmatum ‘Koto no Ito’, meaning “Harp Strings”, is a striking Japanese Maple admired for its exceptionally narrow, ribbon-like foliage and refined architectural shape. The delicate leaves emerge soft green with bronze-pink highlights in spring before maturing into graceful layers of fresh green through summer. In autumn, the entire plant transforms into glowing shades of gold, orange and crimson red, creating a spectacular seasonal display. Its elegant, airy habit brings softness and movement to patios, courtyards and sheltered garden borders, making it particularly effective in Japanese-inspired planting schemes or contemporary urban gardens. The finely textured foliage contrasts beautifully with bold-leaved plants such as Hosta, Heuchera and evergreen ferns, while ornamental grasses like Hakonechloa enhance its flowing silhouette. Ideal for premium containers or smaller London gardens, this ornamental maple delivers year-round structure with outstanding seasonal interest.
